1902 - FORT MIAMI SPEEDWAY
Originally built as a horse track, Motor racing did not commence until 1902, running one event only prior to 1918.
By 1918 Motor racing had returned and on a regular basis, In 1936 a quarter mile track was added and shared between Dog racing and Speedway.
In 1941 a further 1/2 mile track was added with various forms of racing held on all the tracks up until the outbreak of World War 2.
After World War 2 and the lifting of the motorsports ban, Stock Car racing would become very popular on the 1/2 mile oval and open wheel cars on the two smaller tracks.
In 1951 and 1952 NASCAR held two events with Tim Flock winning both, The speedways were all closed by 1957 to make way for a sports precint.
