1950's - TRINITY RIVER DRAGS
Some time during the 1950's a group of kids from the Grand Prairie area got together and raced there Hot Rods on the dried up river bed of the Trinity River.
1955 - YELLO BELLY DRAGSTRIP
In 1955 a local eccentric millionaire who owned the land that the river ran through, O.L Nelms, decided to build a asphalt dragstrip for the kids to enjoy there racing without the hassle from the cops.
1968 - CHARLCIE TOWNSON
In 1968 the venue was brought by a young female entrepreneur by the name of Charlcie Townson, At this point she made a lot of upgrades, such as a new control tower with a PA system, Staging lights, new rest rooms and consession stands.
Charlcie continued to operate the venue up until 1986 when she died, Apon her passing her four sisters continued to run and update the dragstrip to what it is today.
