1947 - SPRINGFIELD SPEEDWAY
Springfield Speedway or Little Springfield as it was also known opened after the end of World War 2, as a 1/5 mile dirt oval track, The owner Joe Sheehan ran many categories, Stock Cars, Modifieds, Midgets, and Sprintcars. The venue was very popular with the drivers and fans alike.
Sadly Joes health failed him, so he closed the track, After Joes death the land was sold off to make way for a K Mart store.
