1942 - ROYAL AUSTRALIAN AIRFORCE
In 1946 because of Australia's commitment to World War 2, The Royal Australian Airforce built the Caversham airfield base to cater for all air traffic up to and including the large Bombers and cargo aircraft. The main sealed strip was one mile in length.

1946 - WA SPORTING CAR CLUB
In 1946 the WA Sporting Car Club had moved from its main focus on Around the Houses racing and held its first race meeting on the Caversham airstrip.
This meeting was the first Post War race meeting held in Australia.
Known as the victory Grand Prix it was a huge success, It has been reported that in excess of 60,000 people,(about a quarter of Perth's population) attended the event.
