MIKE COLES. 1934 FORD COUPE.=============================================Dave Harvey recalls: Myself and Mike Coles started racing at the same time at the old Wattle Grove track, we went halves in a FX Stock Production sedan that Bill Oldfield Snr or "Flipper as most new him" was selling, we shared the drive in this car for about six meetings before I wrecked it after being turned around and rolling the humpy about five or six times.
Later Mike turned his attension to V8 Hot Rod racing, he built a car and used the 34 Ford Coupe body off the ex John Leopold car that John ran at in the 1960's

Mike raced this car with a lot of success until he wrecked it at a race meeting one night, when Mike rebuild the car he took off the coupe body and fitted a more modern style, and went back racing, By this time I was racing sidecars with my brother Warren and was into Street Rodding, I had heard a whisper on the grape vine that Mike still had the body, but it was a bit torn up, one phone call later and It was mine for the cost of a carton of beer.
I did pick up the body and later on sold it to another rodder, no idea if he still has it.

Super Six Open Classic, Sprintcar's, Super Sedan's, Modified Sedan's, Stock Production's, Sportsman's, Ladie's & Junior Sedan's. 3rd June 1990.Danny Smith is Super 6 Open ChampionDanny Smith has today taken out this years West Australian Super Six Open Classic, here today at the Ellenbrook Speedway.
Not unlike all the Ellenbrook Classic's, The top scorer over the two ten lap heats and the twenty lap final is the winner.
Smith in his number [63] machine led home the husband and wife team of John Castagna in the [49] car and Judy Castagna in the [149] entry.
