During the early 1960's a few locals got together and organised car and motorcycle racing on a very crude track just out of town on the way to the airport, The cars raced on a flat track, while the bikes raced on a true scramble course in amoungst the earth banks and trees.
3 of these locals that raced in these early years and were also involved the building of the 2nd venue were Allan Murray, Ron Casey and Mort Harslett.
