1949 - SOUTH MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY
Opening soon after World War 2 and motor racing was up and about, This track ran at the height of Arizona's dirt track racing, At the time a lot of tracks were operating around the Phoenix area.
This 1/4 mile track ran everything from Stock Cars and Jalopies to Midgets and Sprintcars, as well as a lot of big name drivers would come to race here, Unfortunately it was a track that ended a number of drivers lives.
The track would not last long as it was modified from a dirt oval to a small road course.
