1973 - MINAMIT STADIUM PROPOSED SPEEDWAY
In 1973 Speedway Riders Association President Morry Loveday presented the details of this proposed speedway to the members of the Speedway Riders Association with the intension that the SRA would be involved in the building and running of the future venue.view of getting involved in the building and running of this future venue.
The track was to be called "Minamit", an aboriginal word for speed, and although the speedway was not going to hold any meetings until the whole complex was completed, expected to be 1976, It was said at the time the basic track would be available for practice within a few months.
A model was made of the venue (simular to the drawing in the story below) and it was on display at the Woodville North branch of the Bank of Adelaide.
However the general members of the SRA were concerned about some of the costs involved and the lease details, and voted not to be involved, and it never went beyond the planning stage.
