1987 - CHARLIE WEST - Speedcar's
When Charlie West retired from racing he on sold the car to Colin Richards in Mandurah who raced the car and in the words of Mick Thompson, smashed the car up and left it sitting under a tree in his back yard.
As time passed Colin sold the car to Lou Bletchenden who updated the front body section to a wedge shape, Lou raced the car at mainly Claremont Speedway, When Lou updated to another car he sold the ex West car to Esperance racer Dave Wanless, who raced the car locally, all the time still maintaining the Holden Grey motor.
It was on a trip to Esperance Speedway not long after by the WASDA club that Mick Thompson who had preiously crewed for Charlie, spotted the ex West car in a very run down condition, Mick entered into a discussion with Dave over the purchase of the old car, In Micks words he thought the price of $8,000.00 was too expensive for him to buy, so he brokered a deal between Dave the owner and Peter Biggs a man who he had never met.
Peter Briggs an avid Motor Racing collector is more interested in ashpalt and pavement machines, however is very attached to his number 26 Wynn's Holden that Charlie once dominated in on the big showground dirt track at Claremont, Mick Thompson the man who found the car and restored it for Peter is still maintaining it.
