1955 - LIONS DRAG STRIP.

Lions Drag Strip opened in 1955 as a 1/4 mile sealed drag strip and soon began to be very popular with the competitors and fans alike. The venue also drew sanctioning from the American Hot Rod Association. All of this wasn't enough though to secure the strips future. Noise complaints from the ever increasing encroaching population would eventually lead to the end of Drag Racing at the strip in 1972.
