LANG PARK SPEEDWAY
Mick Peterson recalls: When our family moved up North, there was talk, like an urban myth, that there used to be a speedway behind the house that we bought, A couple of neighbourhood kids took me there, I could see the faintest markings of an oval track, and one or two old signs, a couple of rusty car bodies, but nothing else, I even remember the name that I saw on the sign, it said "Lang Park" so I've always lived with the thought in my mind that there used to be a speedway or flat track near our new home that dad purchased in about 1976.
Just now it came to me, so I looked on the website, and guess what? its is marked clearly Exactly where I believed it would be, our address was Davies Street Mount Louisa, Townsville, you can see the creek on the map that winds behind our house, that was spooky.
