1958 - KENNEDY ROAD SPEEDWAY
In 1958 a small group headed by a local racer by the name of Ray Shirley approached the Napier council to build a race track.
There request was granted and the 1/4 mile dirt oval speedway was built, The initial racing entertainment was provided by motorcycles with midget racing introduced soon after, The track only had a short life closing in 1962.
