1904 - NEVADA STATE FAIRGROUNDS
It has been reported that Motor Car and Motor Cycle racing was introduced to the one mile fairground dirt track in 1904, Motor Racing events were few and far between in the period leading up to the outbreak of World War 2, This was when the world wide ban was placed on motorsports events.
At various times in the Fairgrounds life, the track was reduced in length to firstly, 1/3 mile and then 1/4 mile.
By the 1950's the racing was more regular with the addition of Midgets to the program as well as Stock Cars.
At at unknown point the name of the track was renamed Reno Speedway.
Speedway racing continued at the Fairgrounds right up until 1971 on the 1/4 mile track.
