1874 - MONONGAHELA DRIVING PARK
In 1874 the Monongahela Valley Agricultural Association purchased the twenty five acre plot known as the "Driving Park".
The Association held community fairs that included horse racing events.

1908 - MONONGAHELA HORSE TRACK
The 1/2 mile horse racing track was built in 1908, The Monongahela Driving Park Association held Harness Racing events and with the introduction of betting many thousand's of punters would attend.

1920's - MONONGAHELA SPEEDWAYSpeedway racing commenced at the 1/2 mile dirt oval around 1922 and ran through to 1929, yearly events were also held in 1931, 1933, 1936 and two events in 1938.
Monongahela Speedway was known for its long distance events, running between 100 and 200 lap races.

1936 - DEB MILLER
Deb Miller drove the Miller Special to set an average speed of over seventy miles per hour, which broke all records at the time for dirt track racing.

Monongahela Speedway Being Put Into Shape
The improvements being made to the Monongahela Speedway, which will be thrown open to dirt track automobile racing on Memorial Day after a laps of three years, are rapidly taking shape, A large force of workmen are employed daily in reconditioning the oval.
The racing surface has been scraped and by the middle

of the month the liquid asphalt, which eliminates dust and gives the oval a hard surface, will be applied.
Several hundred gallons will be used, New seats will be built practically the length of the straightaway on one side of the track so that there will be seating accommodations for several thousands.
