1970 - PIPPINGARRA SPEEDWAY
In 1968 plans were already underway for the Port Hedland Speedway Club to start planning for a more perminent site to build a speedway, A flatter location next to the original Hot Rod track was chosen, The station owner John Richardson decided to release that parcel of land back to the lands department, so it could be leased to the club as crown land.
The new 600 metre speedway track was built with equipment from a contracting company that was working for Mount Newman Mining at the time.
