1926 - OXLEY SPEEDWAYS
Oxley had numerous speedways over time, one of these was on the northern bank of Oxley Creek, The land was purchased by Olympia Speedways Ltd in 1926 for seventeen hundred pounds.
It was another venture managed by AJ Hunting but only lasted until August of 1930 when the land was sold off to an undisclosed buyer and no longer used for speedway.

2001 - OXLEY SPEEDWAY LOCATION
The track was located on the Northern bank of the Oxley Creek, opposite where Boundary Road meets Ipswich Road.

1948 - OXLEY SPEEDTRACK(Noel Johnston Park Speedway)Named after International Solo Rider Noel Johnston, this grass track venture was promoted by the Brisbane Motorcycle Club.
The speedway opened for the first time on the 14th of December 1948, Meetings were held during daylight hours, Well known competitors were motorcycle aces, Arthur Yenson and Vic Huxley.

1948 - COURIER MAIL NEWSPAPER REPORTEDSPEEDWAY RECORD ATTEMPTSpeedway driver Chas Whatmore will attempt to lower the track record of 34 7-10 sec in his midget speedcar at the race meeting at Johnson Park Speedway, Oxley tomorrow.The record is held by NSW driver Tony McAlpine. Whatmore will also compete in match races against C Warburton. Leading motor cyclists, including State Champion L Nixon (Ipswich) and C Dempsey (Toowoomba) will compete with riders from Gympie and Kingaroy in the motor cycle events. First race on the all day programme is at 10.30. 24th July 1948 |
