1920 - SONOMA COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS
After a lay off the Annual Fair had been revived with great enthusiasm in 1920. The fairgrounds received a major face lift and a new timber grand stand that would seat two thousand spectators.
That year sadly was full of grief for the Fair Board, one the Saturday of the fair a stunt pilot crashed his plane into the center of the arena in front of a shocked crowd killing the pilot. The very day on the Sunday a potential loss of life situation was avoided when a concession stand operator noticed a fire under the new grandstand. He alerted a nearby Deputy Sheriff who put the fire out, without creating any panic in the stands.
One of the feature events on the Sunday was car racing around the dirt horse track, but sadly that did not end well with two cars crashing, killing both drivers and a seven year old boy who was thought to be safe, behind the track fence.

1921 - SONOMA COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS
In 1921 the Annual Sonoma County fair was moved to the Cotati Speedway, possibly because of safety issues at it home Fairgrounds.
