1968 - LARRY ORMSBY
Larry Ormsby started his motorsport career after trying out his then street drivern XR GT Falcon at the Calder Park Dragstrip one meeting, this novice run soon had Larry full of enthusiasm for the sport.
Ormsby along with his mechanic Colin Russell set out to build a serious racecar that would take it up to the new HK Monaro's with the 327 Chevrolet engine.
As the race meetings went by Larry and Colin soon worked out the the little 289 Windsor would never be able to dominated the Holden package, Larry sought help from the Ford Factory through his sponsor BS Stillwell a local Ford dealer, for a bigger engine, possibly a 302 cube Windsor.

Ford advised Larry to be patient as the 351 Windsor engine was about to be unleashed
on Australia fitted to a newer model car, Larry was patient and when the new 351 cube powered model was released, Bib Stillwell arranged for one to be brought by Larry with full factory support, arranged by Ford's promotion manager Al Turner.
In 1969 Larry's new XW GT-HO with the 351 Windsor engine was launched, with the backing of Ford in relation to a replacement intake manifold fitted with Dominator carburetor's and steady supply of new tyres, and a range of diff ratios never seen before the "Big O" went racing.
In 1970 The Big O dominated the seasons results, taking out the Mr Drag Racer points that year, as well as making the final round in seventeen of the twenty one rounds, He also took out the Street Eliminator Nationals held at Surfers Paradise.
Is is at this point that Ford become fully committed and Larry finds himself in possession of a fully factory backed XY GT-HO Falcon powered by the new 351 Cleveland engine.
