2016 - KATANNING SPEEDWAY TO RE-OPEN
In this day and age it is always going to be a grand plan to re-open a closed but once great speedway venue, and that what the Katanning Speedway Clubs mission was.
Many hours of volunteer labour was poured into the restoration, and money, well money had to be raised and that's what the club did, they worked week in week out to raise that money to bring life back into the track to put Katanning's speedway back on the list of tracks that drivers wanted to race at.
Prior to planning any speedway events, the club held burnout competitions and other events to build up the bank balance.
All was coming along quite nicely with the venue so the the club decided to programme its 1st race meeting on the 7th May 2016, this meeting would feature a round of the Modified Sedan state round.
The Rainmaker 30 was to be the grand re-opening, the pits were packed and the rain came, very little circle work did get done and the meeting had to be called off.
