Longview Speedway or Old Dominion Speedway as it was later called opened in 1948 as a 1/4 mile dirt oval speedway. The venue only ran for four years before the ownership changed hands.

Under the new ownership the track was altered to a 3/8th mile and also paved, along with many other upgraded.
The programed racing consisted of Roadstars, Modifieds, Stock Cars and Late Model Sedans.
NASCAR would hold some smaller profile events, attracting drivers such as Michael Waltrip and Tiny Lund.
As was the case with many other tracks across America, the urban sprawl was moving ever closer and the noise complaints came with the growth. The track closed down in 2012.
