1946 - SAVAGE SPEEDWAY
Savage Speedway opened in 1946 as a 1/5th mile dirt oval speedway for the purpose of Midget racing.
Sam Savage was the man behind the building and running of this speedway, which sat next to the Chicago International Airport.
In a short amount of time the Midget racing made way for the Stock Cars. The tracks life was quite short closing down in 1953 and never to reopen.
