1963 - OLD ARCHERFIELD SPEEDWAY. Motor Cycle Racing. 14th July 1963.What we know as the old Archerfield Speedway opened in 1963 as a oval dirt track. Prior to this the site was a motorcycle scramble track. The pits for that oval were, where the current speedway is located.
The old track was in service right up until 1979 when it was closed down to construct a new track, The new track that we all refer to as Archerfield Speedway was built in the old pit area and the new pits over the top of the old oval track.
