1929 - BLANDFORD PARK SPEEDWAY
Blandford Park Speedway opened in 1929 as a 1/4 mile dirt oval speedway and featured motorcycle and midget's on the prpgram.
Not long after opening, circa 1931, speedway racing ceased at the venue and once again become a dedicated soccer field.
In 1945 speedway racing returned to Blandford Park, This was a breakaway group led by Gerry Mathieson and Jack Malcom from the Western Springs Speedway.
Sadly the spectator numbers were poor and continued to be over the four or five meetings they held so the group decided to close the venue once again.
Problem was the promoter of Western Springs had black listed these breakaway drivers and refused there nominations back at Western Springs.
