1933 - WIZARD SMITH
Australia's own record holder Wizard Smith was keen to get the project underway and inspections of the site were made and favourable reports given. As well as conducting land speed records it was planned to build a large racing circuit.

1934 - LAKE GEORGE SPEEDWAYIn 1934 plans bogged down when local lease holders objected to the building of the speedway.
Later in the year the whole project was scrapped when the lake flooded. There are a lot of myths about Lake George and it makes a fascinating study. Its not sure if not enough research had been carried out but it had filled with water before.
There is apparently no outlet for the lakes water only evaporation.
