1960's - PIAWANING GRAVEL PITGarnett Lane recalls: while living in Yerecoin at the time I brought a Mainline ute hot rod from a plumber in Carey Park Bunbury, me and the wife towed this ute back to Yerecoin behind our FJ Holden pannel van, one weekend Eithel and my self packed a picnic lunch and headed off to Piawaning to test out the Mainline hot rod in a local gravel pit. it was not long before a few more home built hot rods started turning up on weekends as well as onlookers at the gravel pit,it was just a short time after the Wongan Hills club started from this bit of fun on the weekend.
