1956 - BENTON SPEEDBOWL 01
Benton Speedbowl number 1 opened on the 28th of June 1956 as a Dirt Oval Speedway, The track was located on a 4.5 acre parcel off land at the intersection of US Highway's 67/70 and Alcoa Road in Saline County Arkansas.
The Speedbowl was forced to close in 1959 as the government required the land to build an overpass, Legal procedings did follow the closing with the owner, Mr Charles E Addy claiming major losses because of the closing, initially he was awarded $20,000 but on appeal that was reduced to the value of the land only, a much smaller amount of $6,900.

Benton Speedbowl came about after the forced closure of Benson Speedbowl number one. This 1/4 mile high banked red clay speedway led a checkered exzistance with share holders coming and going, often because of money problems.
Initially the program consisted of Jalopy racing but as time passed various upgrades were performed and this attracted larger sanctioned events, as well as some of the big name drivers.
The owner's changed the speedbowl's name to I-30 Speedway at some point but we are not sure on a date as there were many ownership changes.
In 2022 pressured by the ever lurking land developers the owner was handed an offer to sell that was way too good to knock back. and that was that another speedway closed. the land is ear marked for residential housing.
