1946 - WANGARATTA SHOWGROUND SPEEDWAY
The first speedway meeting to be held in Victoria after World War 2 was held at the Wangaratta Showgrounds on the 28th of September 1946, it has been reported that eight speedcars took part in the meeting, some of the well known drivers that raced were Stud and Alf Beasley, Clarrie Head, Ron Edgerton, Bill Dutton, Cec Warren, Ron Davies, and Bill Curtis, it is believed that in excess of five thousand spectators attended.
