1973 - URALLA DOUBLE "A" SPEEDWAY.
Uralla Speedway opened on the 29th of July 1973 and was the home track of the Anderson brothers, Grenville and Adrian, being local residents they also attended most race meetings.
With the Andersons as mainstays of the club it was predominantly a super sedan venue, but some meetings saw Hot Rods and Formula 500's added to the programme.
The main annual event at Uralla was the New England Sedan Car Championships and won by the Anderson boys on numerous occasions.
On occasions the nearby Armidale Motor Cycle Club used the venue for bike meetings once the sedan racing club folded towards the late 1970's.
Motorsport maybe gone from Uralla but from time to time the Uralla Show usually throws in a Demolition Derby and the Vintage boys have been known to put together a speedway display to maintain Uralla's Speedway Heritage.
