1960's - MAHAFFEY SPEEDWAY
Mahaffey Speedway was a 1/4 mile track that ran in the 1960's, The speedway was a part of the DORA "Drivers Owners Racing Association and the Sportsman's Racing Association, The Speedway was a sister track to the Fireball Stadium and then later to Hummingbird Speedway.
DORA had sanctioned other races at different speedways as well, one of the biggest stars with DORA was Al Hamilton, a name in which is highly known today.
On the 20th of July 1962 an accident occurred at the speedway that saw the throttle stick on a car, The car went through the pits, striking several people and killing a mechanic.
It has been reported that the speedway may have opened as early as 1952 and closed in 1971.
