1949 - ROYALL SPEEDWAY.
Royall Speedway opened as a 1/4 mile dirt oval speedway in 1949 for hosting Midget racing. The track was built by Nelson Royall on land that was leased off the Wilkerson family, it is unknown as to how long the racing events continued on till. The next recorded event was on the 15th of April 1959 when a meeting that featured Modified racing started up the venue's next chapter. Nascar did sanction meeting's at the venue as part of there early series.

1961 - SOUTHSIDE SPEEDWAY.
In 1961 the venue now known as Southside Speedway held a 150 lap race on the dirt oval. Junior Johnson would take the pole, lead every lap and win the feature in a Pontiac in 45 minutes.

1962 - SOUTHSIDE SPEEDWAY.
By the following year the track had been turned into a 1/3 mile paved oval speedway. Jimmy Pardue would win that years 200 lap race in a 1962 Pontiac. Southside continued to grow through the, 70's, 80's, 90's, right up to the 11th of December 2020.
