1969 - STANTHORPE & DISTRICTS CAR CLUB
The Stanthorpe and Districts Sporting Car Club was formed in 1969, The club immediately set about the building of Carnell Raceway.

1970 - CARNELL RACEWAY
The circuit was built by volunteers from the Stanthorpe and Districts Sporting Car Club, This project soon attracted a lot of support from the local business houses and contractors,
When the circuit opened it was a 800 metre clay surfaced track that was suited to Touring Car racing, and it operated very successfully in that form up until the early 1990's.

1990's - CARNELL RACEWAY UPGRADE
In the early 1990's the venue went through a major upgrade, The length of the racetrack was increased to 960 metres and a drag strip was incorporated into the main straight, The track surface was also sealed over with asphalt.

2014 - CARNELL RACEWAYS FUTURE
It has been widely reported of late the the raceway's life may be coming to an end, The club is currently fighting a loosing battle with the local council and five families that are complaining about the noise and disruption in the area.
