1929 - TOWNSVILLE SHOWGROUND SPEEDWAYIn 1929 the North Queensland Championships were held at the Townsville showground and were won by Don McPerson.
One of the most fomous riders from the showground was Max Grosskreutz who went on to become an Australian test rider to race against England.

1930 - TOWNSVILLE SHOWGROUND SPEEDWAY
Reports indicate speedway racing continued at the showground until at least 1937, Like all forms of motorsport World War 2 ended almost all forms, Townsville was no exception.
1948 - TOWNSVILLE SHOWGROUND SPEEDWAY
Speedway motorcycle racing re-commenced at the showground after World War 2 in the late 1940's, It is unknown at this date as to how long the events lasted.
