2020 - GERALDTON SPEEDWAY PRODUCTION SIZZLE 3rd & 4th January 2020Rick Musarra has won a thrilling 20th running of the Production Sedan Sizzle in Western Australia, a race which had four differant leaders in the thirty lap decider.
Former State Champion Drew Ogle and Ashley Baker would start on the front row, while last years winner and Rick Musarra would start on row two.
Ashley Baker momentarily was the leader, but it would be Rod Musarra who from the third row who would get a dream start, taking the lead on lap two.
Behind Rod Musarra would be ogle and McDiarmid in a spectacular start, which would see Rick Musarra who initially dropped to fifth, move back to forth and start challanging for the lead.
On lap six, Rick Musarra would move to third at the expence of McDiarmid, with the race changing complexion completely on lap nine, when race leader, Rod Musarra, would retire after splitting a power steering hose.
The race started to settle down in the middle stages with Drew Ogle resuming control of the race, with Rick Musarra moving into second place, ahead of Barry Rose, who made rapid progress through the field after starting from the fifth row.
Musarra would hound Ogle for the best part of ten laps before getting the better of him with seven laps remaining, but the challenge for the lead was not over.
Ogle would challenge one again, however, the biggest threat would come from multi time winner of the event, Barry Rose.
On lap twenty seven Rose would pass Ogle, and then in the final three laps for the lead, in a thrilling finish, one deserving of the occasion with the twentieth anniversary of the event going right to the chequered flag.
Musarra though would hold his nerve in the final corner, winning by a mere 0.118, the closest winning marginin the events history, Shane Brittain would finish third, while Drew Ogle and Kane McDiarmid would be the only other drivers to finish on the lead lap.
It was the second victory in the event for Musarra, who previously won the Production Car Sizzle in 2016.
The meeting was supported by Junior Sedans, Super Mods and Formula 125's.
