WATSONVILLE SPEEDWAY
Watsonville Speedway opened on the 27th May 1960 as a 1/4 mile dirt oval speedway. Former driver Bert Moreland and his small team set about building this track inside an existing 1/2 mile horse racing track. Figure 8 racing was introduced in 1964 much to the delite of the fans and drivers alike.
Stock Cars and Late Model were the main feature on the program, with Supermodified's also making the show during the 1960's and 1970's, then of course they turned into Sprintcars.

2006 - OCEAN SPEEDWAY
Ownership of the venue changed in 2006 and so did the name, to Ocean Speedway. Over time most speedways go through there fair share of problems that test them. Ocean Speedway was no exception, at one point a group formed out of the local community " The Community Alliance for Fairground Accountability" took out a lawsuit against the speedway, claiming it was a nuisance due to the excesive noise from the cars. Common sence did win in the end with both party's agreeing to stricter noise rules and an earlier curfew.
Todays programming is much more diverse with 360 Sprintcars, IMCA Modifieds, Sportmods, Midget Dwarf Cars, Hobby Stock's, Four cylinders and of course the 410 Sprintcars.
