1908 - DANBURY FAIR SPEEDWAY
The first motor racing event held at this 1/2 mile horse track, located within the Danbury Fairground was in 1908. The press reports of the day indicate that only the big cars raced.
1939 - DANBURY FAIR SPEEDWAY
Some time after the 1939 racing the track was reduced in size to a 1/5 mile oval. It has been reported that the Stock Cars at the time were the big attraction, This was all prior to the World War 2 ban on motor racing.
After the war the track was once again changed, this time to a 1/3 mile in length. In the late 1940s the track was paver and its popularity soured.
1981 - DANBURY FAIR SPEEDWAY
The track did continue through until 1981 when the speedway was closed. As did many other tracks. The land was sold off as it was required for a shopping centre.
