1949 - WESTERN AUSTRALIAN SPEED BOAT CLUB
The West Australian Speed Boat Club was founded in 1949 and began holding racing events, Over the years the club has held race events at Crawley Bay (now Matilda Bay Perth) Coode Street South Perth and at Heirisson Island Perth.

This period was a golden era for speed boat racing in the west with county competitors traveling from Albany, Bunbury, Mandurah and Geraldton to perform for the large crowds, in return many Perth drivers and crews would travel to these country sea side town to take on there locals.

After racing ceased at Heirisson Island the club moved on to current Burswood site in front of the Casino and set up what we know as the Burswood Water Sports Centre
