1953 - SILVER SPRING SPEEDWAY
Silver Spring Speedwy was a 3/8 mile semi banked clay oval that opened in 1953, They ean Micro's, Stockcars, 410 - 358 Sprints, 4 cylinders, Go Karts, Late Models and more, Their most famous and popular division were the Super Sportsman, Averaging fifty or more cars every Saturday was common for the speedway.
In 1975 the "Sportsman 1000" was born and in the following year, the "Late Model 50" and the "Street Stock 40".
Silver Spring was also home to Pennsylvania Speedweek, The final Speedweek show winner was Lance Dewease on June 29, 2005.
Enentually, having hosted racing events for 53 years, Alan Kreitzer and the Kreitzer family announced that the speedway wold not open for the 2006 season, The speedway was to be raised for a shopping centre, Today 2017 Silver Spring Speedway is gone but never forgotten.
