1965 - DORCHESTER SPEEDWAY.
Stock Car racing commenced at Dorchester Speedway twice weekly back in 1965. The track was a 4/10 mile Banked Dirt Oval that dropped off along one side into a wooded area, so the rescue crew and officials would often have to drag race cars out of the tree's and up the dirt bank, back onto the track.
The speedway didn't have any problems attracting the fans or even some big name drivers who would race cars owned by local teams. It is unknown as to what year the name of the track changed to Summerville Speedway.

1986 - SUMMERVILLE SPEEDWAY.
At the completion of the 1986 racing season the owners decided to pave the track in an attempt to cash in on larger crowds, As time passed the speedway remained just as popular as it had ever been and spectator numbers stayed just the same, The speedway continued to operate until 2004 when the owners were lured to sell the property to some developers who were in the business of building housing sub divisions. The speedway was leveled by the following year.
