1971 - INTERCAPITOL SPEEDWAY
Alan Cramer owned Earthmoving equipment and with his assistance a track was cut and the first configuration of the track without fences sprang into life in 1971, The top end was much broader than the other, bigger flowing turns at one and two, at the other end turn three was pretty average but turn four was very tight.
The track was extended a few times in its lifetime and from its original quarter mile beginnings had been extended out to about 600 metres at closure.
The wooden safety fence was erected in the early 1970's.

1984 - INTERCAPITOL SPEEDWAY AMALGAMATION
In 1984 the Horsham Motorsports club amalgamated with the Nhill Motor Sport Club thus forming the Wimmera Motor Sports Club, with this came an influx of member and a major upgrade of the Nhill venue was carried out, The newly formed club ran regular big events, including a two day meeting on the June long weekend every year.
The club also held a few state titles in its day and was considered as one of Victoria's better venues, But with increases costs in Public Liability Insurance and too few volunteers working at the track, numbers drifted away and the the track was forced to close.
This arrangement between the Nhill and Horsham clubs lasted until 1991 when the two clubs parted and they both reverted to there original names.

1985 - INTERCAPITOL SPEEDWAY TRACK UPGRADE
The concrete wall was started in 1985 and completely erected by 1986, in those early days racing consisted of both A & B grade sedans and open wheel Sportsman, It was the usual array of FJ and FC Holdens that adorned race tracks back in those days, The club would normally bring in another class as a feature division on the day, these would be classes like Sprintcars or Formula 500's.
