1925 - MEMORIAL DRIVE HILL CLIMB
The earliest records of this hill climb start in 1925 when the Newcastle Car Club held a hill climb petrol consumption test. The competitors had to see how far they could go on one pint of petrol. The following month the Newcastle Motorcycle Club held a quarter mile hill climb at the same location. It was used up until 1934 but it appears only used by Car Clubs after 1926. There were several events each year drawing large crowds.
