2018 - AUGUSTA MARGARET RIVER SPEEDWAY HEIDI ROBINSON MEMORIAL - 6th January 2018This race meeting the "Heidi Robinson Memorial" was an absolute credit to the Augusta Margaret River club and its organisers, The memorial was for Heidi Robinson a nine year old speedway fan who lost her life to Childhood Cancer recently.
As one would expect the whole process of setting up the race meeting and the running of it was on pure emotion.
If you don't believe in fairy tales then look away, because they sometimes do, Heidi's favorite driver Damion Amato from Bunbury along with Heidi's dad burnt the midnight oil to make sure that Damion's racecar was ready for racing.
With a fresh engine in the Car Damion was overheard making the statement that Iam going to win this for Heidi or bin the car trying.
Feature time and everything did go to plan for Damion and Heidi, Damion was placed in second leading up till the final laps when he made an incredible pass to hit the lead, The spectator on hand thrilled at the move, showed there emotions and cheered the big pink Falcon home.
Kids Cancer Project fundraisingIn addition to the memorial race the Robinson family along with the Amato family are also involved in fund raising for the Kids Cancer Project, This particular meeting saw the Augusta Margaret River Club donate the proceeds of the meeting to the Fundraiser, also Jason Moyle from Moyle Race Parts donated a highly sought after piece of memorabilia to go to auction.
