Daryl Rosser recalls: In the 1966 Bathurst race, Class D which was for cars that were in the $2,701 to $4,000 price range, There were two VC V8 Valiants, and other makes such as Studebaker Lark, one HD Holden X2, Triumph 2000, and a pair of Volvo 1225 sedans, one shared by John Harvey and Kevin Bartlett. These Valiants would pull 120mph down Conrod Straight and because they only had drum brakes, the driver would pull it back to second at the 400 marker at 95mph to save the brakes and help slow the car.
