2019 - KATANNING SPEEDWAY SOUTH WEST SMACK DOWN 23rd February 2019Spectators and competitors were all treated to a fantastic nights racing on saturday the 23rd of February 2019, After a series of failures such as rain outs and a total fire ban in the last instant forcing the club to call off meeting, The track was prepared to perfection for the varied divisions, The V8 Non Winged Sprintcars topped the billing and used this meeting as a shakedown to there Australian Championship that is to be held here at the venue next month.
For those that have not seen the V8 Wingless Sprintcars before they are simply an uprated Sprintcar with no Wing, running a Holden LS1 fuel injected engine, The skill level to drive these cars is vital, It appeared to me that this new class of racing had brought some well known names out of retirement that had not been racing main stream.
Many of these drivers have not defected

from the open sprintcar division as some predicted, far from that, drivers such as Vaughn Manders made a name for himself in Super Sedans, Modified Sedans and Speedcars, have come from the shadows to once again race, Bill Stocks who won the feature on the night has spent some time lapping in a v6 Wingless.
Ian Watts former Speedcar and Sidecar racer, possibly returing to the elite world of Speedcar racing once again.

2019 - KATANNING SPEEDWAY PRO MODIFIED FEATURE 16th November 2019With a run of hot conditions and the tempreture forcast to be in the low forty's on Saturday, The track preparation crew knew they were going to be up against it come race day, The ripping, watering and grading commenced early in the week leading up to the race meeting.
As it turned out the first few races produced a fair amount of dust off the top as a constant breeze was drying out top soil, But as the racing continued the track soon came to the driver, with just a light spray and the moisture already in the base the track became very racey.
As the sun went down the loyal Katanning crowd were treated to a series of races with the V8 Wingless Sprintcars and the Pro Mofifieds both trading places constantly.
The club proudly showcased there new lighting system that illuminated the entire racetrack.
