1951 - MANZANITA SPEEDWAY
Originally a dog racing track known as Manzanita Park, It was converted to a 1/4 mile dirt stock car track in 1951, The first race meeting was held on the 25th of August 1951.
In 1954 Manzanita had added a 1/2 mile dirt circuit to the venue and opened the new track with a 25 hour marathon race.
In 1965 Keith Hall purchased the facility and re-named it Manzanita Speedway, In 1968 he founded the Western States Championship at the track and offering a generous $10,000 as prize money.
Now known as the Western World Championship this race became a part of the triple crown of sprintcar racing.
Hall sold the track in 1984, but had to re-take control of the site after the new owner de-faulted on the loan.
In 2004 Joe and Millie Kimbro took over ownership of the venue only to re-sell it again in 2007 to the Martin family who were well known through out sprintcar circles.
Manzanita Speedway held its last meeting on the 12th of Aprill 2009, The venue was closed and on-sold to a rigging company who bulldozed the site in 2010 to provide a storage area for there equipment.
