1925 - BLACKTOWN SPEEDWAY
In 1925 a huge speedway was envisaged at Blacktown New South Wales, Three hundred acres where purchased next to Quaker Hill Estate adjacent to the Richmond railway line, Shares were called for and a prospectus issued, It was promoted as Sydney Speedways Ltd.
Land clearing was commenced in 1926 but stopped when the workers went on strike.
The Speedway was to be two miles long with a straight of at least half a mile long, It was being built for speeds of up to 175mph. The structure was to be made of reinforced concrete one hundred feet wide.
