1971 - WARWICK FARM RACEWAY. AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX. 21st November 1971.M A T I C H is Australian Grand Prix Winner.Frank Matich driving his self designed and built Matich A50 has won this years Australian Grand Prix, here at Warwick Farm Raceway.
Matich started the main event off pole in his Repco Holden V8 powered machine and led all the way over the 45 laps, he also set the fastest lap at 1m 24.3sec. This would be a back to back win on top of last years win.
Second to cross the finish line was was Kevin Bartlett driving a McLaren M10B Chevrolet, Bartlett started out of position eight.
Third went to Alan Hamilton also in a McLaren M10B Chevrolet McLaren started the race out of position six.

A notable omission off the podium was the English driver, John Surtees who started out of position nine, but was forced to retire with a damaged car after being locked in battle with Bartlett and Hamilton for many laps.
