1950 - DELMAR RACEWAY
Lost Dirt Tracks Facebook feature
Built right on the Maryland border, it was originally built as a 1/2 mile dirt track, Racing would consist of Modified Stock cars with some URC Sprintcar events, but by the following year, the venue was running weekly NASCAR sanctioned races.
A new 1/4 mile dirt oval was built inside the 1/2 mile track, while the 1/2 mile oval was paved, most of the racing took part on the smaller track.

By 1954, NASCAR sanctioned races were dominating the tracks program, This brought drivers from around the country and the fans.
As time passed the 1/2 miles track surface was returned to dirt and track lights were installed for night racing, Unfortunatly the track struggled to make money and after 1958, were forced to declare for bankruptcy.
