Herb was concidered by many to be the best Jawa, JAP and Goldstar BSA mechanic in West Australia.
He was a very much loved man who was known to be very generous, When the visiting solo test teams visited Perth, Herb would allways give them the run of his workshop.
Chum Taylor was very fortunate to have Herb maintain his bikes during the time he raced, International rider Les Sharpe who grew up in Perth, was another rider that was assisted by Herb, Les has very fond memories of working with Herb in his racing days at Claremont.
Herb also sponsored riders in other codes, one of them being Johnny Rover who road raced a fuel injected Triumph to success.
