1970 - TRALEE SPEEDWAY
Tralee Speedway opened on the 21st of June 1970, the track was a 410 metre "D" shaped dolomite and clay oval, Tralee was the name of the sheep station that the track was built on,
During the seventee's many quality drivers came from Tralee Speedway including David House two times Australian sedan champion, Dave Wignall and Brian "Storman" Norman, The first speedcar feature event was won by Kiwi racer, Max Butterworth (Brother of Barry) driving a Sydney based car, New South Wales country born but Sydney based solo rider John Langfield was the first recorded winner of a solo race at Tralee.
