1965 - MELBOURNE SPEEDWAY.
Originally a greyhound track a Mr Wilson who owned the site actually built the race track and the timber track fence, he named the venue Brooklyn Speedway, it is not known at this point as to what or was there ever any racing at the site.
In 1965 the Speedway was purchased by a group of three business men for $250,00, they were Ezmat Haken, Earl Vienet and Laurie Rowlands, as time passed the group set about putting in spectator mounds and in early 1966 started running Sunday afernoon meetings
By December 1966 track lighting was installed and the saftey fences were upgraded.
In November 1967 a full season of night racing had started.
